Michelle Young and the Collection is a Los Angeles-based band that was formed in 2017. The group is led by lead singer Michelle Young (founder of The Box Presents and ROVE). The band draws inspiration from a number of genres including soul, blues, jazz, rock, neo-soul and funk music. The band combines traditional songs with spoken word pieces set to music throughout their live sets, and will be recording their first EP in early 2019. The band's live shows are more of an experience than a typical show--of the shows, Michelle says,
"Our desire is that audiences walk away with the knowledge that they are not alone, and it's okay to be human. We live in a crazy world and we're all trying to work through our humanity. We want to work through it together."
Michelle's poetry has been published in Local Wolves magazine and past performances as a solo artist included shows with Hotel Cafe, The Spare Room and Silverlake Sessions.
The band's members are listed below.
